Riley Halpern

Actor & Singer

I’m Riley Halpern, an actor and singer based in New York City. Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in the suburbs of Milwaukee, Wisconsin by two ex-actors, the arts have always been a major part of my life. I was directing and starring in living room plays with my two younger siblings as soon as all involved could walk and talk. I grew up performing professionally at regional theaters in the Milwaukee area. My first role- see below- was the Baby Monkey in the TYA show Five Little Monkeys and I’ve never looked back.

I’m passionate about a variety of genres, from new works to Shakespeare to musical theatre and more. During my four years at Fordham University’s Theatre Program (go Rams!), I honed my craft and expanded my scope, acting in classics by Brecht, Lorca, and Ionesco, as well as originating roles in new works. I am experienced in new play development, and I deeply value the collaborative process between playwright, creative team, and actor.

I am a firm believer in the power of theatre to promote social change, and my experience in theatre education has shown me firsthand how exposure to the arts fosters empathy and understanding. When I’m not onstage, you can find me going on a run through Central Park, digging through the sweater section at the thrift store, or curled up with a book.

My first show ever! Five Little Monkeys at First Stage Children’s Theater in Milwaukee, circa 2011.
